Information we collect

We collect only what we need to run Balanzz for you:

Account details you provide — your name and email address, plus anything you add to your profile: phone number, gender, birth date, photo, and country.Financial records you add — accounts, transactions, budgets, loans, IOUs, and settle-up groups, including any bank or card details you type in (card numbers are never more than the last four digits).Contacts you choose — only the people you add yourself. We never read your phone's address book; picking a contact shares just that one name and number.Files you upload — receipts, profile photos, backups, and imports.Sign-in data — your device model, app version, and IP address, recorded with each sign-in so you can see and sign out your sessions.Reports and blocks — when you report a person, a settle-up group, or a group expense, we store who and what you reported, the reason you picked, any note you wrote, and when. When you block someone, we store who you blocked and when.

How we use your information

Your data powers the features you use — nothing more. We use it to:

Provide reports, budgets, reminders, and cash-flow insights.Personalize your dashboard, categories, and default currency.Send service alerts and reminders you opt in to — never marketing spam.Review reports of abuse, spam, or fraud and act on them, and keep anyone you block from contacting you, seeing what you share, or adding you to groups.

Data sharing & disclosure

We never sell your personal or financial data. We share it only with:

Service providers that run Balanzz for us: Render, Neon, and Redis Cloud (hosting and database), Cloudflare R2 (file storage), Brevo (email), PayHere and PayPal (payments on the web), and Google (sign-in with Google).Authorities, when the law requires it and only to the extent required.People you connect with or share a settle-up group with — who see only what you choose to share with them.

Reports go only to the Balanzz team who review them, by email and in our admin tools. We never tell the person you reported who reported them, and nobody is told that you blocked them.

Data security

All data is encrypted in transit over HTTPS and encrypted at rest by our database and storage providers. Passwords are hashed, never stored as text. Access inside Balanzz is limited to the people who run it. If we ever detect a breach affecting you, we'll notify you within 72 hours.

Retention & deletion

We keep your records for as long as your account is active. Delete your account from Settings and it is locked for 30 days, then everything personal is permanently erased. We keep a record of any payments you made — amount, date, and plan, with no name or card details — because tax law requires it. Reports you filed and your blocks are deleted with your account; a report someone else filed about you is kept for our records, with your account no longer attached to it. Your rights & choices

Wherever you live, we extend the same rights to you:

Access and export a copy of everything we hold about you.Correct inaccurate account details at any time.Delete your account and data, or object to and restrict processing.

Cookies & tracking

We only store what keeps you signed in and remembers your preferences, like your theme. We don't use analytics, and we don't use advertising trackers.
